Description:

Surface wax coating on the leaf blade appears absent (wax code ++ ++ -) (14). Concerning the chemical epicuticular wax composition, the reduction in the amount of surface wax is accompanied by a decrease in the size and morphological complexity of the wax bodies. The wax body structure is arranged in single, double, and triple finger-like forms (16). Plants of the Bowman backcross-derived line for cer-ze.81, BW161, occasionally showed slightly delayed heading, but delayed heading of the stock for glf5.e, BW387, was not observed. The grain yields of both BW161 and BW387 were about 3/4 of those for Bowman (2).
